The innkeeper Barnabáš and the teacher Isidor Slovíčko succumb to the lure of old Moreles, to whom the young Taussig sends enthusiastic letters from America. They therefore set off to seek happiness and wealth in America. After saying goodbye to her beloved, the teacher Slovíčko, Terezka meets the forest maiden Jasana, who promises her that she will look after her beloved in exchange for her three hairs...

The young prince and the old king stand in the way of the treacherous queen's plans to gain the royal crown and fulfill her insatiable desire for power. The cunning queen manages to get rid of the prince and his stepson by sending him into the world to search for his dream Golden Maiden. With her helpers, she cunningly arranges everything so that the prince never returns and the old king does not survive. The path to the throne will then be clear. In the end, however, as in every good fairy tale, so too here, good will be rewarded and evil punished.

Since childhood, the young prince—along with his sister Bela—has listened to his nanny's stories about the Apple Tree Maiden. He hears the words of an old ballad about how the deep forest hides the ruins of a fortress where a nobleman once lived with his son and daughter. They lived there happily until the father brought home a new wife, a witch who destroyed everything and cursed the children into the form of apples on a withering apple tree. Only pure love—and only on All Saints' Day—can free the unfortunate siblings and restore their human form. And now, as an adult, the prince searches for his dream—the Apple Tree Maiden—during his endless wanderings through the forest.
